5 out of 5 stars Price is Awesome!   March 5, 2010

I have owned a Pur faucet mounted filter for over 3 years and the only thing that happened was the front plastic part cracked and broke off, but it wasn't necessary anyway, just more for looks. I was buying filters - 2 for around $29 at the military commissary and thought it was very expensive. Look at this price that amazon offers!!!!! Can't beat it and my filters lasted for over a year. I keep about 6 small bottles of pur water in my fridge which also saves me from buying those small bottles of water. This may seem like a lot to pay all at once, but it saves you so much in the long run. I am going to reorder today as I only have one left from my earlier purchase over a year ago. You won't find a better price than this, and free shipping too!

5 out of 5 stars Works well, produces quality tasting water, lasted a long time.   March 5, 2010

This is my first water filter. The quality is there. Keep it chilled in the fridge and it's some of the best tasting water I've had. It's well worth the money, everyone should have one of these. The taste and gallon/price ratio makes it worth it alone. Also, who knows what is leaking into your city/well water. Makes coffee taste great too.

Here's a trick that they probably don't want you to know about.. When your filter stops working, it isn't because the filter itself stopped working. It's because the mechanism inside the filter housing has clicked all the way over and stopped the water flow. If you think your water still tastes good and it probably did right before it stopped flowing on you.. Simply remove the filter like you were going to install a new one.. and the mechanism in the housing resets, then reinstall the filter.

Now you can extend the filter until you wish to replace it. I would recommend replacing it eventually though.

5 out of 5 stars Great filter   March 3, 2010

These filters work great as long as you don't run hot water through them. I use it to filter my drinking water and for cooking. The water tastes great.

4 out of 5 stars PUR Water Filter   February 25, 2010

PUR RF-9999-6 3 Stage Faucet Mount Filter, 6-Pack
The faucet mount model is great because it doesn't use countertop space, a plus in my small kitchen. It does deliver fresh, odorless water, and I am able to confirm the filters are doing their job because during the summer months the water develops an odor and off taste (I no longer taste test, I know it's horrible.). When this happens it smells/tastes like the town adds extra chlorine. This fixes the first problem, but creates a different set of problems. Either way, when I switch the filter on - all these problems go away. Under these circumstances we will not get the 100 gallons, but that's okay because I know the filters are working harder. One word of caution - IT IS TRUE, if you run hot water through the filter it will be destroyed. Buying the six-pack with free shipping makes it a deal that's tough to beat. At ten, fifteen or even twenty cents per gallon (on a bad month), plus no bottles to buy, haul or recycle, what a deal.
