This filter works just like the original GE filter. It's easy to install...just screws right in...perfect fit. I would definitely purchase this item again.

Looking for values
So far no problems. The GE brand filters lasted approx. one year. Since I just purchased and installed this one I will have to wait to see in it is a better value than the branded filter.

This filter simply does not fit properly. If you have a reset button for the filter, it will not reset with this filter in. The actual installation was not as smooth as the GE filter, but it seemed to work fine (no leaking inside like other reviewers). However, the fridge started making horrible squealing noises when the ice tray refilled. When removing the filter, an enormous amount of pressure had built up inside and cracked the filter upon removal. I hope this filter has not done permanent damage to my fridge. Serves me right for trying to save a few bucks... I'm replacing it with the GE filter, which I've never had a problem with.

Hard to put on compared to manufacturer's replacemnt. Make sure you give it an extra twist so water does not squirt into your refrigerator. Also make sure adapter comes off old filter to be reinstalled on this one. Lock it into fitting and refrigerator receiver tightly.
Great price compared to Best Buy for GE product. Water tastes great.

We have been very pleased with this filter and think it works just as well as the original filter that came with our GE refrigerator. When my husband first installed it, water sprayed everywhere. Then he realized he had dropped the little rubber o-ring that creates the seal. Once he put that on, it worked perfectly.
