Amazon.com Product Description The Watts Premier Filter-Pure UF-3 Water Filtration Device utilizes three-stage filtration to ensure you get cleaner, healthier drinking water straight from the tap. In addition to reducing lead, chemicals, and chlorine taste and odor, the UF-3 uses Hollow-Fiber technology to trap and remove even the tiniest particles from your water. Featuring a patented space-saving design that is perfect for houses and apartments, the UF-3 can be installed in a matter of minutes.
3-stage filtration and Hollow Fiber Technology provide cleaner water straight from the tap. |
During the lifecycle of a single filter, you can save up to 16,000 plastic bottles from being deposited in landfills. | Three-Stage Filtration Removes Contaminants The Watts UF-3 filters drinking water in three stages. Once the system is connected, water from the tap passes through a five-micron sediment filter, followed by a heavy-duty one-micron carbon block filter that reduces lead and chemicals. The third stage of filtration involves a state-of-the-art UF Hollow Fiber Technology membrane. Hollow Fiber Technology uses standard home water pressure to push water through a semi-permeable membrane. Suspended particles and materials of high molecular weight are unable to pass through the 0.2 micron UF membrane, leaving you with only fresh clean water and dissolved minerals. This specially formulated filtration process is capable of reducing cryptosporidia, giardia, entamoeba, and toxoplasma, as well as a long list of chemicals--from herbicides and pesticides to disinfection byproducts and gas additives. Cleaner Water Straight from the Tap It is estimated that VOCs (volatile organic chemicals) are present in one-fifth of the nation's water supplies. These contaminants can enter ground water from a variety of sources, including herbicide and pesticide runoff, gasoline or oil spills, leaking underground fuel tanks, disinfection byproducts, septic system cleaners, and chemicals used in the dry cleaning industry. The UF-3 keeps you safe from these and other VOCs with its three-stage filtration, so you can turn on the tap with the assurance that you're getting cleaner, healthier drinking water. Simple Operation for In-Home Convenience Thanks to technological advances, the UF-3's sophisticated filtration process, which was commonly used only in municipal water treatment plants and hospitals, is now available for home use. The UF-3 is capable of running at low water pressures, and it won't alter the pH of your water. For added convenience, the filtration system doesn't require electricity or a separate holding tank. Easy Assembly and Filter Replacement The UF-3 features unique swivel-valve, push-button assembly that allows for easy initial installation, as well as simple and sanitary one-step filter changes that don't require you to shut off your water source. The Importance of Drinking Clean Water Water is critical to proper food digestion, kidney health, brain function, blood health, joint functionality, and more. It's important to make sure that the water you drink is devoid of contaminants. Thankfully, using a Watts water filtration device will ensure consistent quality for all of your drinking and cooking needs. In fact, when you use Watts' high-quality certified water treatment devices and filters, your water will be free of chlorine taste and odors, particles, and many other contaminants that can be detrimental to your health. *Please refer to the Performance Data Sheet for the complete list of claims for which this system is certified. An Eco-Friendly Choice Not only is the UF-3 filter a healthy choice for you, but it's also a healthy choice for the environment. This filter helps you minimize the harmful environmental consequences of buying bottled water. Incredibly, if a mere ten percent of North America's bottled water intake were reduced by switching to home-filtered water in reusable containers, we could eliminate: - 133,000 trucks driving an average of 500 miles--saving nearly 12 million gallons of diesel fuel
- Over 100 million pounds of greenhouse gasses--equal to taking 1,100 cars off the road annually
- 213 million pounds of PET--equal to 1.5 million barrels of crude oil or improving the PET recycling rate by 10%
| Depending upon which Watts water-filtration product you use, you can prevent up to 16,000 half-liter bottles from being deposited in landfills--all in the time it takes to use and replace a single filter. The Watts Premier Filter-Pure UF-3 Water Filtration Device is backed by a three-year limited warranty. What's in the Box Filter-Pure (UF-3) module (complete with filters), parts bag, faucet bag, and manual.

Easy to install, looks good, strong water flow. June 23, 2010 R. Egeter 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Actually the water flow can be so strong that I question if it really works well. I reduced the water flow via the valve.
I guess I will have to get a water testing kit. We all like the taste of the water though.
water leak from blue tube connection with faucet shank May 24, 2010 Richard The plastic insert comes with the blue tube is loose inside the tube when it was inserted in the tube and plastic sleeve is loose too when it's placed outside the tube. both of the parts are supposed to hold the tube tight from inside and outside.
On the contrary, the green tube connecting the cold water supply comes with brass insert which seems to work tight and fine with the tube. no leaking at all. I'm not sure if someone else has same problem. Gonna call watts CS next week.
great filter May 11, 2010 RBNC (NC) The filter is great. The water is better than most other filters that I have tried in the past and taste is as good as an RO filter that a friend has. The only reason I didn't give this product 5 stars is due to the fittings. The fittings didn't hold and I had a some clean up when they came off with water pressure. I had to go to my local hardware store to get proper fittings ($2.00) which is no big deal. Overall performance otherwise is great.
Best in it's Class April 29, 2010 D. Vasconi 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
this was the 3rd filtration system that I tried.
all of them were similar and in the same price range; this one was the cheapest.
the quality of everything that came in the box was pretty amazing, down to the brass fitting, while the other 2 I tried were PVC.
the knock on this system is the installation manual picture of how to assemble all the washers- it was pretty bad, but I was able to figure it out.
perfect water stream and great taste.
I've had it for a month or so and no leaks or any other issues.
very, very simple to install and I may be the world's worst plumber.
Well made, easy to use, questionable performance. April 16, 2010 N. Carter (Austin, TX USA) 10 out of 13 found this review helpful
I've owned RO systems, whole house systems, and tried various other carbon filters and such.
I found installation to be pretty easy. The instructions were pretty clear although I had some trouble fitting the faucet to my sink hole snugly. It still rotates a bit but it's fine. The unit itself is compact for a 3 filter setup and of course the filters are quite easy to change.
The quality of the faucet is also very nice. It matched a nice sink/faucet setup very well.
Performance is another story here. My wife used to make me change our RO filters too much, complaining it tasted funny. So I got this water tester. It's pretty nice and it shows contaminants in parts per million. So after installing this thing I tested it, comparing it to a Brita. If memory serves me correctly RO got around 70 PPM on this test. Of course I don't expect this to compare to that, but it's some sort of reference. The Brita tests at about 120PPM. This unit is reading about 127PPM. Tap water tests at 136PPM. So basically the Brita is outperforming this unit. As far as taste goes it seems fine, but I do sometimes detect a slight taste to the water. I live in Austin, TX and our water is actually not that bad here. I've performed this test many times over several weeks, always with the same results. The tester is a TDS. Keep in mind it may not be perfect, but it is very consistent and it always showed relative results when comparing tap, whole house, RO, carbon, etc. This is my first experience with what I thought was a better filter system being outperformed by a lesser one.
I emailed WATTS with that information and I'll just past the reply. I found it to be pretty worthless.
While we would expect that should perform better than the Brita, that is not always going to hold true. The UF3 is merely a more thorough filtration than the Brita but it may be releasing a little bit of carbon from the carbon filter. It will NOT perform any where near what a reverse osmosis unit would.
So overall I'm satisfied, but a little troubled by the performance.
