Cheap faucet makes it not worth the purchase August 30, 2010 S. Anderson I purchased this item and installed the filter the faucet stem broke when hand tightening. I returned it to a local dealer and the next one broke running water under the sink and into the kitchen. There are no parts available you have to purchase a entire system from Culligan so it was easier to purchase another brand of faucet and filter from the start.
Terrible faucet, good filter, flooded kitchen & basement August 25, 2010 Ricoscoro Filter works good but after about 8 months the plastic faucet broke and flooded under the sink, on the floor in kitchen, and went downstairs to destroy drop ceiling and soak into the subfloor and rafters. Crossing fingers about mold and mildew. This was even with a replacement faucet that Culligan sent since the first one broke upon installation.
GET A GOOD METAL FAUCET!!!!!!!!
Great tasting water, BUT LEAKS FROM THE NIPPLES! August 6, 2010 NY (Brooklyn, NY) Update:
The Culligan is leaking .5 gallon of water everyday. For now we have been using a baking pan under the water filter to keep it from leaking all over the cabinets (until we find a replacement). THIS IS A DISASTER! And I tried to call Culligan- the first time I left a message- no callback from technical support. Second time I called, kept me holding, then asked me to leave a message again, without speaking with anyone. BUYER BEWARE!
It is exactly as the title states.
We installed it in Dec 09, didn't even use any of it in the winter time as we boiled water cause it was so cold... started using it all the time in May-August 2010, and we just checked it (today is Aug 6)and the undersink cabinet had water all over.
It seems that the o rings on the nipples don't do anything. I'm assuming that whenever you turn on the faucet and it activates, the water that is pumping up, spills out of the nipples as well.
It's too bad because the water tastes great and following earlier users' advice, we had purchased the Watts 116023 Standard Faucet, Chrome from Amazon and it worked wonderfully- no frills. We called the Culligan headquarters but- surprise!, no one picked up, I left a message and we will know soon if they can do anything, though I doubt it- it's been a year. Anyone have a better recommendation for undersink water filtration????
undersink water filter kit July 17, 2010 A. MCCANN (LINCOLN, CA.) I like this product and think it is easy to use but I changed the faucet to an all metal one.
Excellent filter system May 19, 2010 The Cane Maker (Ohio) The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that the mounting system used by all these filters requires screwing the unit into a wall rather than providing a secure upright stand - which I ended up making. I did not use their supplied faucet as I already had a high quality brass unit in place. The faucet supplied is plastic and metal -looks OK. Water filter installs easily, filter replacement will be a snap, and the water is tasteless - no chlorine or nasty flavors remain. Only a reverse osmosis unit provides greater level of water treatment and they require a more complex installation and greater space.
